Established in 2019, Kantabile Afrika was born out of a passion project.
Luxury safari camps in Tanzania were—and still are—predominantly owned and funded by foreign investments. There was not a single upscale safari camp in the Serengeti that embodied the true character of its creators. The birth of Cherero Camp and Aurari Camp is the product of the tenacity, ingenuity and creativity of its entrepreneurial proprietors who had their hearts and lives rooted in Tanzania. The owners of Kantabile Afrika conceptualized, location scouted, sketched, designed, constructed, furnished and styled their beloved bush homes with so much love and care that the craftmanship is unparalleled. They then assembled a stellar cast of talented troupe members—each bringing their own knacks and quirks—to enchant and delight the enlightened guests at Cherero Camp and Aurari Camp in the Serengeti.

The ensemble at Kantabile Afrika is the soul of the company. We put out casting calls and gathered talents from all over Tanzania—we searched the mountains, the lakes, the highlands, the lowlands, the coasts—and handpicked each team member based on his or her character.

From the Creative Director to the General Manager to the trailblazing head chef to the gracious hostesses, the camps thrive under the care of thoughtful women leaders. A collaborative approach is adopted at every level of management.
Sustainable Practices
The camps measure the usage of water, consumption of electricity, and production of wastes in order to track the environmental impact. Wastes are sorted, weighed, so they can be eliminated, reduced, recycled or upcycled.

Honouring of Place
With no permanent building structures, glass walls, reliance on large appliances, swimming pools, or other out-of-place touristic amenities, the camps honour the savannah nature of the Serengeti in their design and practices to favour wildlife and the environment.

The Food is Amazing
Cherero Camp is spectacular!! It has a beautiful, remote and isolated location in the Serengeti. The tents are gorgeous, spacious and extremely comfortable. We had a lounge area, very large bedroom, large bathroom and a deck overlooking the Serengeti. The staff is beyond amazing— professional, friendly, helpful, and fun. The food is amazing - I don’t know how the chef is able to prepare such delicious meals in such a remote location.

Lujosísimo campamento en la zona oeste del Serengeti. Antes de llegar no te imaginas que un campamento pueda ser tan bonito y cómodo. Es un hotel de 5 estrellas pero en medio de la sabana. Las vistas son espectaculares e incluyen animales salvajes (no peligrosos). Pero lo mejor de todo es sin ninguna duda su staff. Nunca me han tratado así. Todos los empleados están continuamente pendientes de ti.

Esclusive Luxury tented suites, con un arredamento ricercato e moderno, perfettamente integrate con l’ambiente circostante. La vista dalle suites è incredibile e alla mattina si possono ammirare indimenticabili albe. La chef prepara pietanze di una qualità incredibile. Servizio da parte di tutto lo staff anch’esso di alto livello: grande gentilezza e attenzione ai dettagli.
Everything Was Perfect
In the middle of nowhere in the Serengeti nestles this gem of a camp. It has all the stylish and thoughtful details one expects with luxury glamping on safari. What makes the camp extra special is the food and friendly team. At Cherero Camp you feel you are home. The tents have all your creature comforts, electricity and water are solar powered. (This camp site takes being eco-friendly seriously.) Attention to details is exquisite, from the handwoven baskets for your clothes, to the well-appointed bathroom, fluffy towels and bed linen, everything was perfect.
The BEST Experience!
…the best by far, is simply the overall luxury of the tents! It’s better than many hotel rooms I’ve stayed in! Our children were able to sleep on a bed sectioned off in the suite with heavy draperies. Having a porch to sit on and watch the animals go by was amazing! The food was superb! We had some difficult food allergies in our group and they catered to them with no issue whatsoever. They helped us celebrate my son’s birthday with a cake and singing!
