There are few things in life as humbling — or as exhilarating — as watching the Great Migration unfold before your eyes. The thundering of hooves, the dust spiralling into golden light, and the thrill of over 1.5 million wildebeest as they cross rivers and predator-lined paths.
Perched on the rolling hills of Wogakuria in Northern Serengeti, just south of the Mara River and near the dramatic granite boulders that Simba from the Lion King movie would be proud of, lies Aurari Camp, a serene sanctuary amid the excitement of the migration.
Where the wild rush meets stillness
Aurari Camp is strategically positioned near the Mara River crossing points yet respectfully away from the tourist herds so it can offer front-row access to the drama of the migration, without the crowds. Here, you’re close enough to feel the earth tremble beneath migrating hooves and, far enough from the other humans and vehicles to let the wilderness embrace you once the dust settles.
From June through November, the Northern Serengeti becomes a multi-coloured living painting. Wildebeest and zebra flood the plains, their movement guided by ancient routes and seasonal rains. Some herds may pay the Maasai Mara a brief visit when searching for fresh pastures, but many remain in the northern Serengeti before eventually heading south again, toward the direction of our sister property, Cherero Camp.
Camp life
At Aurari Camp, your safari experience begins the moment you unzip your tent. Step inside and you’ll find 50 square metres of airy elegance. With a spacious central bedroom, separate lounge and bathroom wings, and a private decked space outside that opens onto sweeping savannah views, your home from home in the wild.
The interiors celebrate the spirit of Tanzania with their earthy tones, handcrafted accents, and soft textures that mirror the natural beauty of the land outside. By design, the camp blends seamlessly into its surroundings, allowing nature to remain the star of the show.

“As soon as you arrive at Aurari Camp, you realize you are in a small Eden in the heart of the Savannah—exclusive luxury tented suites, with a refined and modern decor, perfectly integrated with the surrounding environment. The view from the suites is incredible and in the morning, you can admire unforgettable sunrises. The chef prepares dishes of incredible quality. Service from all the staff is also of a high level: great kindness and attention to detail.” – Emanuel, Italy
Safari Reimagined
Aurari Camp is for those who crave connection, who appreciate the comfort of a beautifully designed room. It’s safari reimagined, balancing authenticity with creature comforts, warmth with adventure.
Whether you’re sipping coffee as the sun peeks over the horizon in dawn, or returning from a river crossing exhilarated and dust-kissed, Aurari Camp invites you to slow down. To listen. To feel.
More than a river crossing
The magic of the migration isn’t just in the crossings. It’s in the silence before the stampede. The tentative steps at the water’s edge. The flurry of movement as predators stalk the stragglers. It’s a ballet of life and one that unfolds just beyond your tented suite.
But even amid this raw, wild energy, Aurari Camp remains a place of peace. After the game drives, rest assured you will return to something softer: a warm welcome, a lovingly prepared meal, and a sky blanketed in stars.
Aurari Camp is where the Great Migration thunders by, but your soul finds stillness.
